Social learning: What will you inspire?
Caroline Prendergast, BBC Training & Development Director

Eighty-five per cent of learning takes place on the job, through learning from others, sharing experiences and being challenged. BBC Training & Development we have created a number of platforms - formal and informal, online and offline - that provide opportunities for people to do just this. This session will look at Social Learning, a new way of defining and providing development.

Learning aims:

  • Define and explain Social Learning
  • Raise awareness of how Social Learning can lead to more effective long-term learning than traditional methods
  • Share BBC experiences and case studies, including practical ways of providing social learning

Caroline Prendergast is BBC Training & Development Director. Before joining the BBC in 2005, Caroline held various development and HR roles including head of HR for BBC Drama and then for BBC News. Caroline is a board member of Skillset (UK sector skills council for the broadcasting industry) and a member of the ICEDR (International Consortium for Executive Development and Research).
